170 riders, 34 teams: tomorrow, April 21, the world’s best U23 riders will compete in the Easter Monday Classic. Putz, Schrettl, Omrzel and Italians Donati, Borgo, Finn, and Turconi top the contenders list 

Tomorrow, Monday, April 21, 34 teams (17 Italian and 17 foreign) and 170 riders (representing 35 countries) will start from Villa di Cordignano (Treviso) for the 86th Giro del Belvedere, with the goal of taking the baton from Slovenian Gal Glivar, winner in 2024.

In its 102 years of history, the Easter Monday Classic has consecrated many talents. From Silvio Martinello (1983), Maurizio Fondriest (1986) and Ivan Gotti (1990), to the winners of recent editions who have already made their way among professionals, Juan Ayuso (2021) and Romain Grégoire (2022).

Climbers, powerful riders, athletes who can compete in the Northern races – the Giro del Belvedere is open to many scenario. International contenders are Austrians Sebastian Putz (RedBull-BORA), and Marco Schrettl (Tirol KTM), winner a few days ago in San Vendemiano. Bahrain Victorious and Borgo target Giro del Belvedere

The road from his hometown Solighetto to Cordignano, start and finish line of Giro del Belvedere, is just about 30 km by bike. Alessandro Borgo, 20-year-old rider of Bahrain Victorius Development Team, has cycled it countless times. However, in his early career, he has gone well beyond his home roads and has even made his World Tour debut.

On Monday, April 21, the day of the 86th Easter Monday Classic, Borgo will return to these roads chasing his definitive breakthrough. Furthermore, he aims at stopping Italy’s winning drought, lasting since Samuele Battistella’s triumph in 2019.

Borgo already raced Giro del Belvedere in 2024: in his first year in the U23 category, he finished tenth in Villa di Cordignano, leaving him with bittersweet emotions. “Overall I would say it was a good result, especially considering that I made a mistake before the last turn. I got boxed in and had to chase throughout the sprint, missing a great opportunity. It was a good learning experience that has helped me improve and will be useful this year, because I’m going for the best possible result.”

The Easter Monday Classic, scheduled for April 21 in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso), will welcome 35 teams, with an impressive 19 coming from abroad, representing 15 Countries, further cementing the event’s prestigious standing beyond Italian borders.

The number of Continental teams represents a new record, with 24 in total. Giro del Belvedere confirms its thrilling 168 km route

Following a spectacular 2024 edition, the organization of Pro Belvedere brings back the same route with start and finish in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso). On April 21st, the battle is on on the ascents of Piai della Vigna and Montaner

Preparation are in full swing for the 86th edition of Giro del Belvedere, scheduled for April 21-25 in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso). After careful consideration, the organization of Pro Belvedere opted to confirm the 168 km route tamed by Slovenian Glivar in 2024.

The course proved to be challenging and spectacular, on the line until the very end, and to be a solid test for the best U23 rising stars of international cycling. Glivar, who won wearing the UAE Gen Z jersey, has now entered the World Tour with the Alpecin-Deceuninck team. Through this achievement, Belvedere keeps its streak open: from 2013, every winner has made it to the pro peloton.

Lately, the bond between Slovenia, UAE and cycling grows every day more. And that was again the case at the 85th Giro del Belvedere, staged today, April 1st, in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, North East Italy). UAE Team Emirates Gen-Z Gal Glivar, 21-year-old rider of, raised his hands on the finish line after a thrilling Giro del Belvedere. One of the few accomplishments missed by one the greatest today’s cycling stars and fellow countryman, Tadej Pogačar, who recorded two top-10 but never got better than a 8th place.

Despite the heavy rain in the first part of the day, a massive crowd celebrated the Slovenian as well as an impressive performance by the Italian athletes as Davide Donati (Biesse-Carrera) and Ludovico Crescioli (Team Technipes #InEmiliaRomagna) rounded out the podium.
