From Junior World Champion in Zurich to winner of a top-tier U23 classic in Villa di Cordignano: in under seven months, Lorenzo Finn has gone from a promising prospect to a confirmed talent, claiming victory at the Giro del Belvedere international classic.

The Italian rider from Team Astana Development will be again on the starting grid of the Easter-Monday U23 international cycling event and aims high: “I trained with Battistella and I will ask him for some tips…”

With plenty of talent, self-confidence and strength of will, promising Astana Development Team’s Italian rider Gianmarco Garofoli, born in 2002, is ready to join the fray and strive for victory at the Giro del Belvedere, scheduled on Easter Monday, April 18th, in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, Northern Italy).

The U23 international cycling event is going to stage its 83rd edition and Garofoli is for sure one the young rising stars to keep an eye on. The Italian talent is ready to take up the challenge. “My goal is to leave the mark on this race – Garofoli explained – which always represented an historical date and a springboard for many young champions in the past. Also this time, I expect nothing less than the usual high technical level.”

The season start was not ideal for the Italian due to some physical issues, although the worst seems now to be behind.

2020 Giro del Belvedere cancelled

Due to the Italian health emergency and the related measures adopted by the International Cycling Union (UCI), the Pro Belvedere organizers have decided to cancel the U23 international race, planned on Easter Monday, April 13th. The event will not be rescheduled and will be back in 2021

Giro del Belvedere organizing company Pro Belvedere officially announced the cancellation of the U23 international race planned in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, Italy) on Monday, April 13th, due the COVID-19 health emergency and the related measures adopted by the International Cycling Union (UCI) on March 15th, 2020.

The organizing committee has decided to not ask for a new date in the 2020 UCI international calendar, and the appointment is therefore postponed to next year.

“Public health takes priority over everything – the organizers explained. – For this reason we decided to renounce to the 2020 edition. We hope the Covid-19 virus will be eradicated soon, but returning to normality will take time”.

The Pro Belvedere has followed to the UCI request to “cancel any cycling event on the UCI International Calendar in territories identified at risk by the World Health Organization”.
