The history of the Giro del Belvedere speaks for itself: 83 editions in just under a century (the first start dates back to 1923), a roll of honour of absolute prestige and an attitude to be the gateway to professional cycling for the athletes who manage to show off in the Under 23 classic.

The edition scheduled for next April 18th, on Easter Monday as usual, in Villa di Cordignano (Northern Italy), is ready to confirm such premises once again. In a cycling world increasingly characterised by early talent, Groupama-FDJ Continental is one of the leading teams in the U23 category. With plenty of talent, self-confidence and strength of will, promising Astana Development Team’s Italian rider Gianmarco Garofoli, born in 2002, is ready to join the fray and strive for victory at the Giro del Belvedere, scheduled on Easter Monday, April 18th, in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, Northern Italy).

The U23 international cycling event is going to stage its 83rd edition and Garofoli is for sure one the young rising stars to keep an eye on. The U23 international event scheduled in Northern Italy on April 18th announced 34 teams from 14 Countries at the start. Spotlight on the World Tour Development teams while Bardiani-CSF-Faizané and Swiss Racing Academy make their debut

With slightly less than two months to go to the 83rd Giro del Belvedere, starting and finishing in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, Northern Italy) on the usual date of Easter Monday, April 18th, the OC unveiled the 34 teams at the start of the U23 cycling classic, including many World Tour Teams, alongside 22 Continental Teams and some new entries.

The 83rd edition of the U23 Venetian event will indeed host 17 international teams and 17 Italian ones, with their prospects chasing glory before diving into the professional scenery. The development squads affiliated with UCI World Team featuring the race will be France’s Ag2r Citroën U23 and Equipe Continental Groupama-FDJ, Dutch Jumbo-Visma Development Team, Kazakh Astana Qazaqstan Development Team, Israel Cycling Academy and US EF Education-NIPPO Development.

The new entries of this edition are the Swiss Racing Academy team, with a line-up plenty of versatile riders skilled for both road and off-road cycling, and the Italian UCI Professional Bardiani-CSF-Faizané.

After the slight detours of the 2021 edition, the international U23 cycling race scheduled on Easter Monday, April 18th returns to tradition on 166.2 km distance

The 2022 Giro del Belvedere is sticking with the tradition: following the last edition with a few route adjustments due to road maintenance, the 83rd appointment with the cycling event dedicated to the best U23 international prospects in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, North-East Italy), goes back to its classic race course on April 18th, on the usual date of Easter Monday.

“Nearing our race’s centenary, as the first edition dates back to 1923Pro Belvedere organizer Gianfranco Carlet explained – the return to the classic route paves the way to this historic event. Since 2016, indeed, in addition to the Canalet wall, we have also included the Via della Longhe ramp, a short but intense climb that makes the race even more selective and exciting: a real international test for five-star talents”.

Nearly seen as a springtime World Championship for U23 riders, the Giro del Belvedere is one of the most awaited showcases of the season for cycling rising stars whose heritage will be strengthened by the 83rd edition to be held on April 18th, 2022, as usual on Easter Monday.

Future international cycling prospects world are awaited in Villa di Villa (Treviso, North-East Italy), first up the five-star Spaniard talent Juan Ayuso, who won last year thanks to a powerful action which led some cycling opinion leaders to dare his name to a true two-wheel legend such as Alberto Contador.

The international classic held in the Veneto region will be once again organised by Pro Belvedere, an historical club deeply linked to the U23 cycling panorama now managing to be on the spotlights again after a hard pandemic period.

The 18-year-old Spaniard of Team Colpack-Ballan completed the Trofeo Piva-Giro del Belvedere double, twenty years after Yaroslav Popovych in 2001. The podium was rounded out by Viktor Potocki and Alexandre Balmer

Juan Ayuso completed a memorable weekend, taking a solo victory in the 82nd Giro del Belvedere on Monday, April 5th, 2021. After the success of Trofeo Piva, the 18-year-old rider of Team Colpack-Ballan gave an encore in Villa di Cordignano (Italy), winning ahead of Croatian Viktor Potocki (Ljubljana Gusto Santic) and Swiss Alexandre Balmer (Groupama-FDJ).

The last rider to pull off the Trofeo Piva-Giro del Belvedere double was Yaroslav Popovych in 2001, who went on to make a long high-level pro career. “I’m very pleased with this double, and I wish to thank the team for their incredible work. The Montaner climb was perfect to attack, but I waited until the last meters of climbing because I knew the following flat section. I gained a few seconds, defending this advantage in the downhill e in the final flat section”, said Juan Ayuso after the finish line.

On Monday 5th April, the U23 international classic race in Villa di Villa (Treviso, Northern Italy) will take place without spectators, while adopting strict security measures. The race will be streamed live starting at 4.30 pm CET

Only one week to go before the 82nd edition of Giro del Belvedere, the international race for U23s, scheduled on Monday 5th April in Villa di Villa (Treviso, Northern Italy). The ongoing pandemic did not discourage the Pro Belvedere: the organizing committee is preparing an event of international significance, with 35 teams including several youth UCI World Tour ones.

In compliance with the current Italian regulations, Giro del Belvedere will be held without spectators, but fans will get the opportunity to follow the competition by live streaming.
