The centennial edition of Giro del Belvedere is quickly approaching: on Monday, April 10th, in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, North-East Italy), 35 teams will battle it out to succeed in the Easter Monday Classic. 18 squads come from Italy, while 17 from abroad, with 13 Countries represented overall. The best riders of the U23 category will face an unprecedented 171 km route, more technical and demanding than ever.
Not less than 21 Continental Teams are expected at the start: the reigning champions of Groupama FDJ (France) defend the crown grabbed by French rising star Romain Grégoire in 2022, while other youth squads of UCI World Tour Teams trying to get in the way: among them, the French fellow team of Ag2R Citroën, Dutch giant Jumbo-Visma and Astana Qazaqstan (Kazakhstan).
Likewise in 2022, the race will be attended by UCI Professional Team of Green Project-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè, leading the Italian peloton together with long-history squads such as Team Colpack Ballan, winner in 2021 with the top Spanish talent Juan Ayuso, Zalf Euromobil Désirée Fior (two riders in the top-5 last year), and Cycling Team Friuli-Victorious, joined to some new entries, such as Q36.5 Continental Cycling Team, supported by cycling legend Vincenzo Nibali as technical advisor, and Team Technipes #inEmiliaRomagna, the squad led by former Italian TC Davide Cassani.
The 2023 route of Giro del Belvedere has been specially crafted for the centennial edition: instead of the two classical loops, the race will feature a third ring, unveiling a new climb. Indeed, the ascent of Piai della Vigna (500 m between 9 and 15% gradient) will join the iconic “Conche” (1 km between 5 and 9%), Montaner (1.5 km averaging 12% and spikes of 18-20%) and Via delle Longhe (500 m from 12% to 17%) climbs, to give fans and enthusiasts an unforgettable show.
