Jumbo-Visma dominates the Centennial Edition of Giro del Belvedere on April 10, placing three riders in the first four spots. Norwegian Johannes Staune-Mittet took off slightly less than 3 km to the finish line and soloed in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, Northern Italy). The best cycling U23 talents worldwide gathering at the Giro del Belvedere 100-year edition, on April 10th. 33 teams, 19 of which UCI Continental, will fight on the new 171 km route, aiming at the title won last year by French star Romain Grégoire

The wait is almost over. Monday, April 10th, in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, Northern Italy) Giro del Belvedere will celebrate its 100-year anniversary, with a very special edition of the U23 international cycling race. A historic milestone for the Easter Monday Classic, which saw its first event in 1923: through the years, 83 editions were carried out, showcasing some young talents who turned out to be also great champions in the Pro category.

From the very first winner, Alfonso Piccin, to the latest one, Romain Grégoire, Giro del Belvedere kicked-off the careers of riders like Maurizio FondriestSilvio MartinelloIvan Gotti, Jaroslav Popovič, Stefan Küng and Juan Ayuso. Once again in 2023, the best U23 talents on the international scene will show off on the roads of what many define as a Spring World Championship, fighting for a chance in the Pro category.

The Youth Team of the Dutch Giant is among the favourite on the starting line of Villa di Cordignano (Italy) on Easter Monday. Tijmen Graat, winner of the Istrian Spring Trophy: “We will attack right away”

Jumbo-Visma Development Team is eager for being back at Giro del Belvedere on Easter Monday, April 10. The strong squad coming from the Netherlands is still looking for its first ever win on the finish line in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, North-East Italy) and the line-up looks up to the job.

The yellow-black team is taking part in Giro del Belvedere for the third time in a row: so far, the best performance is the bronze medal by former World Junior Champion Per Strand Hagenes, who in 2022 got behind French rising star Romain Grégoire (Groupama FDJ) and runner-up Italian Federico Guzzo (Zalf Euromobil Desirée Fior).

The Venetian team placed two riders on 2022 Easter Classic’s podium and has been the most decorated squad throughout the last 15 years, but not yet quenched

Ahead of the Centennial edition of Giro Del Belvedere (April 10th) there is no lack of self-confidence in the words of Davide De Pretto, one of the best riders of Zalf Euromobil Desirée Fior, a historic U23 cycling team and the squad that here got the most wins in the last 15 years. Twelve months ago, on the finish line of Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, North-East  Italy), Zalf was able to place two athletes in the top-5 (Federico Guzzo, 2nd, and De Pretto indeed, 4th), but couldn’t manage to triumph over French rising talent of Groupama FDJ, Romain Grégoire.

The centennial edition of Giro del Belvedere is quickly approaching: on MondayApril 10th, in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, North-East Italy), 35 teams will battle it out to succeed in the Easter Monday Classic18 squads come from Italy, while 17 from abroad, with 13 Countries represented overall. The best riders of the U23 category will face an unprecedented 171 km route, more technical and demanding than ever.

Not less than 21 Continental Teams are expected at the start: the reigning champions of Groupama FDJ (France) defend the crown grabbed by French rising star Romain Grégoire in 2022, while other youth squads of UCI World Tour Teams trying to get in the way: among them, the French fellow team of Ag2R Citroën, Dutch giant Jumbo-Visma and Astana Qazaqstan (Kazakhstan).

Giro del Belvedere adds a “gourmet” ring to its centennial anniversary’s route

A new segment featuring an unprecedented climb spiking up to 15% gradient, will join the two traditional loops of the Conche and the Montaner ascents. Public and private efforts made this further novelty possible

The Organizational Committee of Pro Belvedere is working relentlessly towards the Giro del Belvedere centennial anniversary, scheduled in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, North-East Italy) on April 10th, 2023. As per tradition, the best U23 cycling talents on the international panorama will gathered in Veneto, for the 84th edition of the Easter Monday Classic, ready to give the fans an even greater show.

Thanks to an efficient joint effort, involving the OC, the Municipality of Cordignano and the Grigolin family through Brussi Costruzioni srl company -, the Belvedere will feat a new ring called “Giro del Buongustare” (Fine tasting), which aims at making the race increasing spectacular and at enhancing the local gourmet experience for the fans.

The international U23 cycling classic, to be held on Easter Monday, April 10th, will enjoy a unique setting at Villa Brandolini Rota now Zanussi, a XVII century building in the heart of Cordignano (Treviso, North-East Italy)

With less than three months to go, the centennial year’s edition of Giro del Belvedere keeps the preparations going towards the event in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, North-East Italy) scheduled on Monday, April 10th. Among the initiatives dedicated to the century milestone symbolized by the special golden logo, the U23 international race will involve local excellences to enhance its connection with the territory even further.

Indeed, the preliminary operation of the 2023 edition will kick off from the heart of Cordignano, by the stunning Villa Brandolini Rota now Zanussi, a historic building boasting great history and a magnificent park. Teams’ presentation and technical briefing will be held there, as well as a welcome party for sponsors, authorities and guests. On Monday, April 10, 2023, the Easter Monday classic returns to Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, North-East Italy) by turning the prestigious milestone of 100 years since its first edition. The Pro Belvedere organizers crafted a special logo and many initiatives linked to the territory and its excellences

It was 1923 when the history of the Giro del Belvedere began. One hundred years and eighty-four editions later, on Easter Monday, April 102023, the story will add another illustrious chapter. Since its debut on dirt roads a century ago, the Belvedere has been able to keep up with great cycling, evolving and offering different and ever more attractive routes.

Now known as the “Easter Monday Classic,” the race scheduled in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, North-East Italy) is one of the most important international cycling events for U23s, so much so that it is considered like a spring World Cup for the category. Organized as per tradition by Pro Belvedere, under the guidance of Gianfranco Carlet, the 2023 event will celebrate the prestigious achievement with a panel of side events aiming at celebrating this centennial accomplishment and at introducing some interesting new features.

The Frenchman from Besançon triumphed on the podium of the 83rd edition of the Giro del Belvedere: the rider of Equipe Continental Groupama-FDJ got solo on the finishing line in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, Northern Italy). The French rider replicates the success of last Saturday at Liège-Bastogne-Liège U23. Second place for Italian Federico Guzzo (Zalf Euromobil Fior, 20″ behind) and third for Norwegian Per Strand Hagenes (Jumbo-Visma Dev. Team, third at 23″), Junior World Champion in 2021.

“Winning here is a fantastic feeling – said Grégoire on the finish line -. I really enjoy racing in Italy: the courses, the landscapes and the public make me excited and push me to give my best. A field of 35 teams and 175 athletes from 15 Countries will run for the 2022 crown of the International U23 classic in Villa di Cordignano (Northern Italy). Also Ukraine’s Eurocar-Grawe among the starting teams. Youngsters Gregoire and Hagenes, who dominated the Junior season in 2022, Italy’s Marcellusi among the riders to watch

Final preparations are underway in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, Northern Italy), where on Monday afternoon, April 18th, at 1.30 pm CET, the Giro del Belvedere will put on its usual Easter Monday display.

The International Under 23 cycling event will be raced on its classic 166,2 km route, charted over two separate rings to be repeated 14 and 2 times respectively, and featuring all of its most famous stretches: the Conche ascent, the Montaner climb from Borgo Canalet and the Via delle Longhe uphill drag that introduces the riders to the grand finale.
