After kicking off its second century of history last April, the U23 Italian cycling classic aims for another show-off of cycling’s prospects. The challenge for Slovenian Glivar’s title is on: Italy chases its first in since Battistella in 2019

2024 introduced Giro del Belvedere into its second century of life, with a thrilling 85th edition on the line for the entire 168 km, before the decisive attack of Slovenian Gal Glivar on the final straight towards the finish line. Now the event looks forward and discussions arise on who will conquer the upcoming edition, scheduled for Monday, April 21, 2025, in Villa di Cordignano (Treviso, North-East Italy).

The triumph at the Easter Monday Classic marked the beginning of a great year for the Slovenian talent of Team UAE, retracing the steps of cycling great, Tadej Pogačar. Besides Belvedere, Glivar was crowned National U23 ITT Champion and runner-up in the Road Race: these results earned him a spot in the World Tour peloton with Mathieu van der Poel’s Alpecin-Deceuninck team.

While Glivar represents yet another winner of Giro del Belvedere getting into the pro peloton, the event is ready to welcome new young talents on the roads of Villa di Cordignano. After four years in a row of international winners (before Glivar it was Ayuso in 2021, Grégoire in 2022, and Staune-Mittet in 2023), great expectations are on Italian athletes, chasing a home win since Samuele Battistella in 2019.

The latest edition gave positive feedback to the home peloton, with six Italians right behind Glivar, led by the strong performances of Donati and Crescioli (second and third, respectively). While waiting to reveal the participants’ list, the organization of the Pro Belvedere is working hard towards a new, exciting edition.

Giro del Belvedere boasts a strong tradition in the cycling world,” explains the Honorary President Gianfranco Carlet, “and it helps to promote a territory that has welcomed us for so many years now. We are working on an event that can offer a great experience for athletes and all cycling enthusiasts who will spend Easter Monday in our area and on our roads.”
